Permaculture Education for Kids

VR Logo Medium 2025.png

Whereby your children are supported and facilitated in leading the design and management of their own permaculture garden and space, through solution-focused, project-based learning.

THE PERMACULTURE PHILOSOPHY

Permaculture incorporates care for self, care for others and care for the environment. The rhythm of our day will be designed around these ideals. Our day will also be Rudolf Steiner inspired, ensuring it revolves around our heads, hearts and hands.

WHAT OUR DAYS LOOK LIKE

Farm Kids is a 5 to 12-year-old Permaculture immersion. Each term follows a themed curriculum through which children learn about important topics and then work in small groups to create practical solutions. Additionally, we spend time in the garden daily, usually planting, watering, harvesting or building. Throw in some outdoor play, some cooking, some time to socialise, some yoga or similar and a sharing circle and that's a typical day.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Home-schooling families looking for one or more of the following for their child(ren):

  • A full day permaculture immersion they'll enjoy.

  • An opportunity to interact and socialise with other like-minded children.

  • A program that teaches practical life skills in a natural learning environment.

  • Project-based learning, where children solve problems and develop critical thinking skills.

  • Opportunities that foster their unique intelligences and learning styles.

  • Experiences that nurture and develop a keen interest in the natural world.

TESTIMONIALS

BE PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL

We desire The Farm Kids to be a community of learners who learn and grow alongside each other, whilst our garden also grows and develops over time. We will encourage students to take ownership of the space and collectively work to develop an ever-changing and evolving garden that they will be proud of.

OUR GUARANTEE

VR Logo Medium 2025.png

As educators with experience working with a wide range of children of many ages and across many different contexts, we are confident that we can accommodate each child's individual needs. Should problems arise that need to be addressed, we will prioritise meeting the physical and emotional needs of all children and ensure that their families are appropriately informed and involved in this process. In light of this, we will not be offering refunds once each term commences.

FAQs

Who is the  Farm Kids program for?

The Farm Kids program is for children in Prep (5) through to Year 6 (12).

How long does the Farm Kids program run for?

The Farm Kids programs will run throughout the course of each school term, typically 10 weeks.

Do I have to pay upfront for the program?

Yes, our term payments are required prior to the commencement of the term. If you are requiring an alternate payment option please reach out and we can discuss possible options.

Does my child need to attend the entire 10-week program?

Our preference is for children to attend the Farm Kids program for the whole term. This is to ensure continuity for the children and facilitator. It also allows children to develop positive relationships and ensures they have autonomy and choice when designing their projects.

What does my child need to bring along to the Farm Kids program?

Children will need to bring their own morning tea, lunch, hat, sunscreen, fully enclosed footwear and a set of spare clothes to change into (if needed). If children have any medical requirements that we may need to cater to, we will need to be informed in advance.

Village Reconnected prides itself on safety. Both Ash and Nige are qualified teachers. They have up-to-date First Aid and CPR training, there are suitable First Aid Kits on-site and they have a full Risk Management Plan for all of their programs.
